EPA Bid to Tag Airport for Groundwater Cleanup of Defense Contractor Pollution Prompts Increase in Airport Parking Fees

Airport Authority Continues to Fight Effort by EPA to Force Airport Travelers and Airlines to Fund Cleanup for Pollution Not Caused by Airport; One Dollar Increase in Daily Parking Rates to Take Effect February 1, 2011 to Pay for Unbudgeted Legal Costs

BURBANK, Calif., December 6, 2010 — The Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority, owner and operator of Bob Hope Airport, today approved a $1 increase in daily and incremental parking rates at Airport auto parking lots to generate funds to cover unbudgeted legal fees associated with an action by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency naming the Airport as a potentially responsible party (PRP) for groundwater cleanup beneath the Airport. The increase will take effect February 1, 2011.

Bob Hope Airport Expands Transit Connectivity -- Adds Free Shuttle Service to North Hollywood Metro Station

Three-Month Trial Program Offering Free SuperShuttle Rides to Metro Station Augments Program Begun in July Providing Free Shuttle to Downtown Burbank Train Station

BURBANK, Calif., October 29, 2010 – The Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority will begin offering complimentary shuttle van service between the North Hollywood Metro Station and the Bob Hope Airport starting November 1, 2010. The shuttle rides will be offered during a three month trial program to help the Airport evaluate demand for the service. The shuttle rides will be provided free of charge to the passenger under an agreement between the Authority and SuperShuttle. The Authority will pay all of the expenses associated with the program.

First of Three Winning “Tower Banner Art Contest” Entries Goes on Display at Bob Hope Airport

BURBANK, Calif., September 13, 2010 – The first of three 2010 Bob Hope Airport “Tower Banner Art Contest” winning entries is on display on the main tower façade of the Bob Hope Airport passenger terminal.  The winning entry illustrates the theme “Joy of Flight” in a composition depicting a child blowing bubbles set in a background of airplanes flying overhead and was created by high school seniors Jonathan Echeverri, Mia Jakubczyk, Patrick Justafort and Megan Paschall from the Pasadena Unified School District.

BURBANK, Calif., July 13, 2010 — The Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority, owner and operator of Bob Hope Airport, is vigorously contesting a recent action by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) naming the Authority as a “potentially responsible party” for costs of ongoing groundwater cleanup beneath the Airport.  The Authority originally purchased the Airport from Lockheed Corporation in 1978 and acquired additional parcels of property from Lockheed in subsequent years.

 BURBANK, Calif., July 8, 2010 – The Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority, owner and operator of Bob Hope Airport, has elected new officers to head the Authority Commission for a one year term from July 2010 through June 2011. The Commission elects officers each July.

Glendale Commissioner Frank Quintero was elected President.  Commissioner Don Brown of Burbank was elected Vice President, and Commissioner Chris Holden of Pasadena was chosen Secretary.

Twin Air, Inc. Joins Roster of Helicopter Operators with Agreements to Conduct Training Operations at Bob Hope Airport

 BURBANK, Calif., July 8, 2010 — The Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority has approved a Helicopter Flight Instruction Operating Agreement with Twin Air Incorporated to conduct operations at Bob Hope Airport in Burbank.  Twin Air is based in Camarillo and intends to conduct some of its recurrent pilot helicopter training at the Airport.

American Airlines Ticket Counter Moving to Terminal B April 1st

Bob Hope Airport Announces Major Inititatives Releated to Nighttime Noise and Ground Traffic/Transportation Issues

BURBANK, Calif.,  March 15, 2010 — The Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority today announced its intention to pursue an alternate approach to addressing the issue of meaningful nighttime noise relief, following the rejection by the Federal Aviation Administration last November of the Authority’s Part 161 Study and Application for a full nighttime curfew. The Part 161 Study took eight years and cost more than $7 million.

Bob Hope Airport Fights Proposed Cuts in Metrolink

Airport Authority Offers Ad Campaign to Metrolink Board to Bolster Ridership

BURBANK, Calif., March 15, 2010 — The Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority took action today to oppose proposed cuts in Metrolink service to the Bob Hope Airport Train Station under consideration by the Southern California Regional Rail Authority (SCRRA) at an upcoming hearing April 2.

In a letter sent to SCRRA’s hearing docket, Authority President Joyce Streator challenged the wisdom of cuts that could include the complete elimination of service from Oxnard and Camarillo as well as draconian cuts in service to the Antelope Valley.

H1N1 Influenza And Pneumonia Vaccinations To Be Offered At Bob Hope Airport

BURBANK, Calif., January 22, 2010 – Bob Hope Airport, as part of its ongoing community outreach, has made arrangements with Torrance-based OnSite Wellness Services, Inc. to offer the H1N1 flu and pneumonia vaccinations to Airport patrons and employees on Thursday, January 28 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., and Friday, January 29 from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m.
